Amanda Brown, Healthy Lifestyle Expert of All Women's Talk (you can find all her articles by following the link), always writes about the benefits of eating red meat. For instance, in this article: 7 Reasons to Eat Beef You Are Not Aware Of
A lot of dietitians say that red meat is not healthy, am I wrong? I don't know who I should believe... Who is right and who is wrong? What do you think about all this stuff?
Oksana, I am both honored and flattered that you wanted my opinion on this topic. Coincidentally, this is a regular topic in my house. As you know, I try to eat healthy but I eat almost everything. I read the article you cited and agree with it. LEAN, red meat ( i.e. with very little or no fat) has a lot of protein which we need for muscle growth and also has many necessary vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B, zinc and selenium. Some vegetarians argue that you can get the necessary vitamins and minerals on a totally vegetarian diet. I don't know if I would go as far as to agree with that. However, I do practice eating more vegetables than meat. My rule is: one serving of red meat should be the size of my palm. Also, I always eat meat with a lot of vegetables. Red meat takes longer to digest than other foods and the longer it takes the go through the more likely is it that toxins accumulate in your body; this is when problems start. Therefore eating fiber and roughage (in the form of vegetables) helps move it along the alimentary canal. I do have one hard and fast rule at home though: we never eat red meat more than twice a week. Except when it's a holiday, like yesterday. lol. It was Memorial day in the US and the tradition is BBQ. So we went out with some friends and had some good BBQ. I did well though: one piece of chicken, two ribs and a slice of brisket. This is why I prefer to have very little rules when it comes to food. So much of what we do is centered around food. If we think of it as restricted and bad, how can we ever enjoy life?
I hope this helps you.

I think everything should be done in moderation. If you abuse and eat red meat all the time, there are consequences too. The benefits hold true if we take just the right amount. What do you think?
Thank you Natasha! That's a good answer, exactly what I wanted to hear:)
I can't say that I love red meat very much, but sometimes I eat it.
Once I thought of becoming a vegetarian, but I was not sure whether it was right or wrong... Now I think that everything can be done in moderation. And I absolutely agree with you that any restrictions just make things worse...
Yes, moderation is the key. I have found that when I think of a particular food as "bad" I want it more. I think it is very important for young women to develop healthy eating habits because if we have children, we would want them to have a good relationship with food.
That's true! Once I tried some diets, but then I understood that after them you start eating more and gain even more weight, because you restrict yourself - you say "no", and when you say "no", it doesn't mean something positive... That's why we shouldn't think so much about dieting because it's getting worse. I noticed that when I'm busy, when I like what I'm doing, when I enjoy my life to its fullest I eat a little and don't even think about eating:) That is the way our life should be:)
I think it means that we need less food than we usually eat... People often eat for pleasure not because they are really hungry. And we got used to it...
