A wonderful little book crossed my desk recently, and I wished it were around during the days I read bedtime stories to my two daughters (I nearly had an aneurysm once reading The Princess and the Pea to my older daughter; I did not repeat the mistake with the younger one).
But this book, Princess Bubble, wrtten by Susan Johnston and Kimberly Webb and illustrated by Ma…

Princess Bubble
http://marcellahawkinsno.blogspot.com/2009/04/princess-bubble.html
As a mother of a six-year-old miss, I chance myself in a invariant conflict ( already! ) with the `` idealised '' female. In point of fact, I conceive the indoctrination of lassie gets at birth, but it hits hardest between the ages of 3-7 when they are literally plunged in the `` princess civilization ''. So, when I saw the book Princess Bubble by Susan Johnston and Kimberly Webb, it was as if the clouds splitted…

Not Your Average Princess
Posted by The Q on February 12th, 2009
Little girls are indoctrinated into Princess Culture before they can even speak in full sentences. Pictures of doe-eyed Cinderellas and Sleeping Beauties adorn everything from plates and cups to clothing and shoes. In fact, Disney’s Princesses marketing campaign is considered one of the most successful in the history of the company–and in the marketing industry. These graceful beauties are impossible to escape no matter where you…

A Different Kind of Princess
Princess Bubble is a beautiful fairy tale princess AND an educated, hard-working, well-traveled woman with plenty of moxie. The book is written from a Christian perspective, encouraging young girls to be princess with morals, ethics, and faith in addition to a pretty d…

Apparently, there IS a fairy tale where a princess ends up happy and prince-less! Princess Bubble is a picture book for young girls where the main character is a princess who questions the traditional fairy tale ending.
It was written by Susan Johnston, who happens to be a…

Empowering Girls: Princess Bubble Review
Princess Bubble by Susan Johnston & Kimberly Webb is the antidote to the Disney Princess Culture.
It's got all the "pretty" little girls want with the crowns and flouncy dresses and the gobs of bubble gum pink and castles and lavish parties. It's full of the exaggerated femininity little girls crave, but balanced with more modern-day images of her in jeans, at the gym, going to work, driving a car and doing yoga.
The illustr…

I get sick of hearing when you are not looking love will find you. Or when you are content. Or pray about it....
First of all, I am not looking and have been content not looking for years and show me the love!
But, here is the real truth about love in my opinion. We have all seen things that should have never worked work and things that should have worked not work. Who has not seen a ugly married woman (and by ugly I mean inside or out) or a beautiful single woman (there again I mean inside o…

I am listening to an audio book, Snow Flower and The Secret Fan, on my commute to work. This book goes into details on how Asian girls bind their feet. I could not even listen to all the details. The girls toes are broken and I can not tell you what all else because turned the volume down during this torture. While silent in the car waiting on the book to skip ahead, I wondered, "Why did men find this attractive? Could these girls even walk?" I remembered the plump women sprawled out in art from…
