Yes I think it can happen. I have many friends who have met their partners on dating sites. As the owner of a free dating site myself perhaps I am a bit biased. I have also made a few lasting friendships with people that I have met online.

I guess one tip for those who would like to try is to choose carefully the dating sites they are joining to. Sarah, do you have tips for us on how to choose a secure dating site? ou ideas would really help. Thanks.

I tried a couple of times but gave up... i just think it's very hard to really know the person if you are not having a long distance relationship (I get skeptical). People can be who they want online and and on the phone but in person you it's not that easy...but I know people who found love online so it's possible for those who have the courage to risk it and pay the price to make it work. I have found great friends online but I haven't had the courage to risk my heart online yet.

I met my husband online 8 years ago, got to know each other then he travelled to my country, fell in love, got married and had a very nice marriage for over 4 years... I still love him very much even though he's practically abandonned me. In spite of this awful nightmare I'm going through, I do think it was true love, but it didn't last forever sadly enough... :'((
